What are SIP Panels?
Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPS) consist of an insulating foam core that is sandwiched between two oriented strand boards also known as OSBs. For instance, SIPs are used for walls, floors and roofs. Above all, SIPs are a high-performance building system that is extremely strong, energy-efficient and cost-effective. Therefore, the main long-term savings are evident through the significant reduction in heating and cooling costs.
SIPS now account for 8% of all UK self-build construction systems.
SmartBuilds are constructed using a galvanised steel frame and SIP panels. They are manufactured in the KES Group manufacturing facility in Omagh before being delivered to site ready for final installation. Therefore, SmartBuild is a completely bespoke building system. SIP Panels adaptability allow complete design freedom which allows us to design buildings bespoke to our clients’ specific needs.
Benefits of SIPs
Insulation – Sip panels have u-values as low as 0.10 w/m²k, limited cold bridging and superior airtightness.
Flexibility – SIP panels can be combined with other building materials, such as brick, block, stone, tiles, slate, wood, steel, and glass.
Save Construction Time – Constructed offsite results in minimal delays which results in faster production time. Can accurately predict the builds costings and completion date.
Save Money – Energy bills can be reduced as much 50 to 60% in a building constructed with structural insulated panels.
Efficiency – SIP-constructed buildings are roughly 50% more energy efficient than those constructed with traditional framing.
Environmentally Friendly – ODP zero insulation core and OSB/3 faces made from sustainable forest resources.
Design – SIPs offer more creative freedom without the constraints of conventional building materials.
